Federal EPA In California
Friday, Sept. 21
10 - 11:30 a.m.
Join us in September to discuss Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) enforcement policies with Sylvia Quast from EPA Region 9, which encompasses California, Arizona, Nevada and the Pacific islands. As regional counsel, she oversees approximately 70 attorneys who are responsible for the enforcement of federal environmental laws and regulations. Noah Perch-Ahern, partner at Greenberg Glusker's Environmental Department, will moderate the conversation on the EPA's enforcement priorities in California related to air and water quality and superfund sites at a time when the state and federal government are often at odds on how to achieve environmental goals.
We will also be joined by Katie Goldman, a climate adviser in Los Angeles City Mayor Eric Garcetti's Office of Sustainability. In 2015 Mayor Garcetti's office released LA's Sustainability City pLAn and committed to updating it every four years. Goldman will be talking about LA's pLAn "refresh" process, and how they are incorporating goals and strategies into the pLAn to support the Paris Agreement.
We will also review the outcome of our state legislative priorities from the recently wrapped-up session.
