Mentoring Students in South L.A. and Southeast L.A.

Center for Education Excellence & Talent Development

December 2, 2019

Last month, over the course of five days, the Chamber's Center for Education Excellence & Talent Development provided programming for nearly 250 students and engaged 66 professional volunteers as mock interviewers. Volunteers supported work-readiness certification programming at two schools in South L.A. and Southeast L.A., Augustus Hawkins Community Health Advocates School and the Huntington Park Institute of Applied Medicine. The Center works to cultivate local talent to meet the L.A. region’s growing workforce demands with the help of partners in the health care industry who provide professional and rewarding experiences for students and educators.

During this season of giving thinks, the Center would like to extend gratitude to their local health care employer partners including AltaMed, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Kaiser Permanente.
