Sonia Campos-Rivera has more than 10 years of experience in policy and public affairs dedicated to education, health, immigration and smart justice issues. In her current capacity, Campos-Rivera oversees policy issues for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Educational Excellence and Talent Development where she is responsible for serving as a content expert and engaging business leaders in Los Angeles and across the state in early education, K-12 and immigration policy issues. For nearly a decade, Campos Rivera has helped the LA Chamber and chambers across the state understand the importance of business engagement in education in CA.
Previously, Campos-Rivera served as a policy liaison for California Speaker Emeritus, Fabian Núñez, and represented former State Senator Gilbert Cedillo, and served as a legislative aid for Assemblymember Dave Jones (D-Sacramento). She is a former Planning Commissioner for the City of South, where she served for over six years and helped guide the city towards opportunities to expand early education facilities in the South East communities.
Campos-Rivera is an alumni of the Center for California Studies Executive Fellowship Program. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and worked on her master’s degree in public policy and administration from California State University, Sacramento.
