Edgar Castillo is part of the growing partnership between the Chamber and the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). In his role, he supports ACCE’s Education Attainment Division in efforts to improve the capacity of chambers of commerce across the nation to have a measurable impact on cradle-to-career education and workforce development outcomes. Edgar began his journey with the L.A. Area Chamber in December 2015, as a public policy intern, working closely with the Education & Workforce Department. His primary responsibilities as an intern included researching important legislation, drafting key briefs for L.A. Area Chamber executives and assisting with event planning in preparation for the Los Angeles region’s largest annual advocacy trips, including ACCESS DC. Mr. Castillo also served as an intern for the University of California Federal Governmental Relations in Washington, D.C., where he regularly attended congressional hearings to relay national postsecondary education attainment updates to leadership at the University of California’s federal office.  He received a bachelor’s degree in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Edgar also studied abroad in Italy and Germany studying the community development and politics of the European Union, and was a part of the University of California Washington D.C. program, studying the impact of federal education legislation.
