California Superintendent of Public Instruction Candidate Series with Marshall Tuck

L.A. Area Chamber
350 S. Bixel St.
Los Angeles, CA 90017
June 5 is the statewide primary election, which includes the open seat for California Superintendent of Public Instruction (SPI), currently held by Tom Torlakson. The California SPI is the nonpartisan elected executive officer of the California Department of Education and directs all functions of the Department, executes policies set by the California State Board of Education and serves as its chair. Determining the next leader in this role is significant for our state, and we encourage everyone to be a part of this conversation. To that end, the L.A. Area Chamber invites you to the first in a two-part SPI candidate series with candidate Marshall Tuck.
Most recently, Tuck served as educator-in-residence at the New Teacher Center (NTC), a nonprofit working with school districts to develop and retain effective teachers and principals. He is the founding CEO of the nonprofit Partnership for Los Angeles Schools.
SPI candidate Tony Thurmond has been invited to address the Chamber's Education and Workforce Council in July for the second of the two-part SPI candidate series. Both council meetings will be great opportunities to hear from the candidates directly, and ask questions relevant to education in California.
The Education & Workforce Development Council leads business community and educator partnerships to reform our public education and develop the 21st century workforce to successfully compete in the global economy.

All Council meetings are open to Chamber members only. Media and guests are only allowed with prior approval.
