In an era of emerging technology, policies surrounding its governance are piecemeal at best, with some areas being heavily regulated while others hardly at all.

Drawing on The World Economic Forum's (WEF) global convening power, community creation and insight generation, the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution at WEF in San Francisco aims to accelerate cross-sector cooperation for effective Fourth Industrial Revolution governance.

Please join the Global Initiatives Council to hear from Richard Samans, managing director of WEF, as he sheds light on the progress that has been made through the center's initiatives and collaboration with leading technology companies, academics, dynamic startups, policymakers, international organizations, regulators and business organizations to harness the benefits of science and technology for generating sustainable, positive impact for all.

The Global Initiatives Council works to create employment opportunities throughout Southern California by increasing exports, imports and foreign investment for companies of all sizes, and for the communities in which they conduct business.

Special Guest:
Richard Samans
Managing Director, Member of the Managing Board
Head of Policy and Institutional Impact
The World Economic Forum LLC

Richard Samans co-directs the WEF's new Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. From 2011 to 2013, he served as director-general of the Global Green Growth Institute, where he led the organization's transformation from a startup nongovernmental organization to a treaty-based intergovernmental institution active in more than 20 countries. Before this, Samans served in the White House as special assistant for international economic policy to President Bill Clinton and senior director for international economic affairs at the National Security Council.
