Strengthening CA's Workforce Through Implementation of STEM Competencies in our Education System
Friday, June 14
10 - 11:30 a.m.
L.A. Area Chamber
350 S. Bixel St.
Los Angeles, CA 90017

Last fall, the State Board of Education adopted California's first-ever model K-12 computer science standards. Developed by educators, the standards are designed to help students become more innovative when using technology, as well as better communicators and creative problem solvers. With the growing influence of technology in our society, it has become important to address the significance of STEM competency in our educational systems and its impact on California's economic outlook.

Come learn more about where California currently stands with the computer science implementation effort, the current need to mobilize support for implementation and its implications to our education system and the business community. The Chamber's Education & Workforce Development Council will hold this session in partnership with the Innovation & Technology Council.
The Education & Workforce Development Council leads business community and educator partnerships to reform our public education and develop the 21st century workforce to successfully compete in the global economy.
The Innovation & Technology Council identifies and engages with business clusters that have economic growth potential - including signature, emerging and innovative industry groups. The Council aims to promote policies that will strengthen these industries, elevate their global reach, drive job creation and regional economic prosperity.
