9.09.16 DCOG Port and Railway Infrastructure Briefing

Members of the Chamber's Diplomatic & Commercial Officers Group received a private Goods Movement & Infrastructure briefing at the Port of Los Angeles last week. The session included a detailed briefing on new developments at the Port by key Port officials and a rail tour led by Pacific Harbor Line and the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA) for an in-depth look at distribution channels in Southern California. Ambassador Vilma Martinez, President, L A Board of Harbor Commissioners and Gene Seroka, Executive Director provided welcome remarks.

Chamber members and community leaders met with Hon. Amina Salum Ali, African Union Ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Ali discussed the trade and investment possibilities in the Union’s 54 member states and provided an update of Africa’s improved economic situation due to the countries’ embracing of international trade.

Sept. 29, 2011 - Chamber Signs Partnership Agreement with KOIMA

High-level representatives from the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), accompanied by a delegation of Korean companies seeking U.S. imports, met with U.S. counterparts at the L.A. Area Chamber for a day of one-to-one business meetings coordinated by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Chamber and KOIMA signed an agreement to share information about new and ongoing trade opportunities, investments and joint ventures.

Sept. 28, 2011 - U.S.-Latin America Business Promotion Tour

The U.S. Ambassadors to Peru and Chile, and the U.S. Charge d'Affaires to Brazil called on Chamber members to explore business opportunities in Latin America, help double U.S. exports and support 2 million jobs by 2015. Chamber members met with U.S. Ambassador to Chile Alejandro Wolff, U.S. Ambassador to Peru Rose Likins, U.S. Charge d'Affaires to Brazil Todd Chapman and Vicki Weil of the Business Council for International Understanding.

Arnold Schwarzenegger on a three-day trade mission to South Korea to promote trade and investment, market California agriculture, encourage tourism and discuss high speed rail.

June 2, 2010 - Investment Opportunities in Bicentennial Argentina

The Chamber, in partnership with the Consulate General and Promotion Center of the Argentine Republic, welcomed ProsperAr President Dr. Beatriz Nofal, above, for a private briefing on the investment opportunities in Argentina. Nofal, whose ranking is equivilant to that of U.S. state secretary, heads ProsperAr, which is Argentina's investment development agency. She addressed the current resources available for foreign investors in Argentina and discussed Argentina's resilient economy.
