05.24.18 Power Hour Series

Olympians and sisters Marissa and Hannah Brandt visited the Chamber to speak on their experience growing up and competing within a male-dominated sport. Marissa, who was born in South Korea, was adopted as an infant by a Minnesota couple, Greg and Robin Brandt, who had been experiencing difficulties conceiving their own biological children. Just before the couple received their first picture of their would-be child from the adoption agency, they discovered they were expecting and gave birth nine months later to Hannah. Both women eventually made their way to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, one representing the U.S., and the other the first-ever united North and South Korea women's hockey team, in one of the most unique stories to have emerged from these Olympic Games. This event was held in partnership with Mixed Roots Foundation.
