On Aug. 23,, the Chamber's Bixel Exchange and Snap Inc. hosted the Snap Design Academy Showcase. Bixel's first class shared their final group projects using Snapchat features to address problems faced by local nonprofits.

The Chamber, in partnership with the Port of Los Angeles and China Southern Airlines, hosted nearly 90 business executives this week to encourage companies to showcase and source products at the 2018 China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, in Guangzhou, China, taking place from Oct. 15 to Nov. 4, 2018.

The Land Use, Construction & Housing Council welcomed their partner, Tommy Newman from United Way of Greater Los Angeles, who led a conversation regarding Los Angeles City's A Bridge Home Program and gave updates on the progress of Measure H and Measure HHH.

Bixel Exchange partnered with Headspace to host a web development lunch-and-learn at their campus in Santa Monica.

The Chamber's Energy, Water & Environmental Sustainability Council was joined by California Air Resources Board (CARB) member Hector De La Torre, who discussed CARB's air quality and climate goals and the tools the agency has to achieve them, including incentives for cleaner-than-required technology and regulations.

Members of the Chamber's Global Initiatives Council received a briefing from Enzo de Laurentiis, chief procurement officer in the Operations Policy & Country Services Vice-Presidency of the World Bank, as he shared insights on the bank's efforts to make significant improvements in its procurement approach and the new business opportunities this has generated.

Bixel Exchange partnered with TechniGal LA to host a technical interview and salary negotiation workshop at the Chamber.

The Chamber's Education & Workforce Development Council meeting was proud to have a powerful panel who addressed how we can collectively work towards creating and sustaining immigrant-friendly policies. Guests included Congressman Jimmy Gomez, Rigo Reyes, executive director of the Los Angeles County Office of Immigrant Affairs, and Dr. Linda Lopez, chief of the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs for the City of Los Angeles.
