L. A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas spotlighted BioLA -- an exciting, newly launched initiative created to accelerate the growth of the L.A. bioscience industry in the L.A. region. Ridley-Thomas spoke on the vital public-private partnership needed to support the building of a life sciences venture in the region, that supports a health care ecosystem that fosters innovation and growth in the sector in addition to growth in health care jobs.

At Thursday's Energy, Water & Environmental Sustainability Council members were joined by Martin (Marty) Adams from Los Angeles' Department of Water and Power, and Uduak-Joe Ntuk from the City's Office of Petroleum and Natural Gas Administration and Safety.

L.A. City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson discussed his priorities as the new chair of the Planning and Land Use Management Committee. The Council also previewed two projects, the Figueroa Centre Project and Fifth and Hill tower. Prior to the meeting, members had the opportunity to join a special program on housing data by Zillow.

Last year, California became the first state to require that publicly traded companies located here have at least one woman on their board by the end of 2019. Nonprofit Council speakers described opportunities and strategies to put more women in the boardroom.

03.22.19 Bringing Credential Transparency into the Marketplace

The Chamber partnered with Credential Engine to kick off a regional effort to bring credential transparency and literacy to the L.A. marketplace so that prospective students, employers and others can easily access information about all available credentials in the region.
