On Nov. 20, Southern California Leadership Network (SCLN) held their annual Visionaries Awards. SCLN annually presents awards to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership achievement and celebrates those whose vision has inspired action, collaboration and positive outcomes.

Bud Colligan, Senior Adviser for International Affairs and Trade at the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, addressed members of the Chamber's Global Initiatives Council this week to provide an update on California's strategy to expand international trade and investment opportunities.

L.A. County Fire Chief Daryl Osby and Deputy Fire Chief Jon O'Brien joined the Government & Fiscal Affairs Council to present the challenges the department faces as wildfires continue to become more prevalent in Southern California and the number of calls for services steadily increases.

On. Nov. 13, Bixel Exchange hosted their L.A. Tech Founders x Talent Coworking Day at General Assembly DTLA to highlight wins over the last year and share insights on creating a more diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem in Los Angeles.

The Honorable Senator María Elena Durazo (SD 24) joined the Chamber's Education & Workforce Development Council Friday morning to discuss her vision of education in the state.

To kick off the season of giving, community and friendship, the Chamber held a special Business After Hours Mixer, collecting canned goods for the L.A. Food Bank.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, the Center for Education Excellence & Talent Development (UNITE-LA) co-facilitated a discussion on regional talent development at the eighth annual California Economic Summit in Fresno, CA.

The Chamber and guests met with leaders from the public and private sector for the sixth annual State of L.A. Infrastructure. The half-day summit featured leaders throughout the region to focus upon smart cities, resilient infrastructure and the strategies that Los Angeles will need to employ to be prepared.

11.05.19 Meeting with Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S.

His Excellency Thani Thongphakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S, visited the Chamber to meet with President & CEO Maria S. Salinas and Board Chair Jerry Neuman to discuss Thailand's economic policies and trade and investment opportunities in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), ACMES and ASEAN countries.

The Chamber held its annual Board of Directors Retreat at Terranea Resort. Attendees heard from a slate of speakers, including: Gary Segura, Dean of the Luskin School of Public Affairs at UCLA; Former CNN Analyst Carol Costello; Elise Buik, CEO of the United Way of Greater Los Angeles; Jennifer Kim from the City of Los Angeles; Dr. Francisco Rodriguez, Chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District; Jerry Neuman, 2019 Board Chair and Chair of Home for Good; and Dr. Jerry Green, Pacific Council for International Policy.

10.25.19 Accenture Pancakes & Politics Breakfast Speaker Series

Phil Ansell, who leads the County’s Homeless Initiative, provided oversight and guidance on deploying Measure H funds for 21 interconnected strategies to prevent and combat homelessness.
