9.09.16 DCOG Port and Railway Infrastructure Briefing

Members of the Chamber's Diplomatic & Commercial Officers Group received a private Goods Movement & Infrastructure briefing at the Port of Los Angeles last week. The session included a detailed briefing on new developments at the Port by key Port officials and a rail tour led by Pacific Harbor Line and the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA) for an in-depth look at distribution channels in Southern California. Ambassador Vilma Martinez, President, L A Board of Harbor Commissioners and Gene Seroka, Executive Director provided welcome remarks.

On Sept. 4, 2016, Emirates Airlines invited the Chamber Board of Directors to experience the newly christened Emirates Lounge. Board members enjoyed the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Diego Padres with a view from above.

07.08.16 - Bright Spot Award at Education & Workforce Development Council Meeting

During last week’s Education & Workforce Development Council meeting, the Chamber’s L.A. Cash for College program was recognized by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics as a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education . The Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, Alejandra Ceja, presented the Chamber's Executive Vice President, Education & Workforce Development, David Rattray, and Director of Education & Workforce Development, Paola Santana, with the award. As a result of this recognition, L.A. Cash for College is included in a national database of Bright Spots, listed under K-12 Education and College Access.
