LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce applauds L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as he announces the selection of Austin Beutner as Interim General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
“The business community knows how important the DWP is to the growth of business and the long term vitality of the City, and the Chamber applauds the Mayor for his selection of Austin Beutner to lead the organization,” said L.A. Area Chamber President & CEO Gary Toebben. “Austin didn’t create the current situation, but he certainly has the tools to fix it, and we look forward to assisting him with those efforts.”
Beutner, who began his career on Wall Street and was a founding partner of Evercore Partners, was appointed First Deputy Mayor and Chief Executive for Economic and Business Policy for the City by the Mayor in January. Since then, he has been retooling the City’s approach to economic development, business attraction and retention and job creation.
“Austin brings to the table a unique combination of private and public sector experience, and has specifically worked in businesses that provided services to municipalities. His expertise will undoubtedly be a tremendous asset to the LADWP,” continued Toebben.
