LOS ANGELES, CA — The Southern California Leadership Network (SCLN) presented TELACU founders David and Priscilla Lizárraga with the Lifetime “Still Achieving” Award Tuesday as part of the Network’s annual Southern California Visionaries ceremony.
SCLN was joined by Los Angeles City Controller, Wendy Greuel, who helped recognize the Lizárragas, and other award winners. Dr. Robert K. Ross, President & CEO of The California Endowment was honored as Southern California Leader of the Year; Aileen Adams, Deputy Mayor of Strategic Partnerships for the City of Los Angeles was recognized as Public Sector Leader of the Year; and Hyepin Im, President of Korean Churches for Community Development was recognized as the Graduate of the Year.
“Congratulations to the Lizárragas, Dr. Ross, Aileen Adams and Hyepin Im … Their contributions in helping mold our region into a prosperous one exemplifies the meaning of the word leader,” said SCLN Chair and Southern California Gas Company Director of Community Relations Kimberly Freeman. “This group’s combined talents help bridge an understanding of the various roles played out in the business, nonprofit and government sectors … All of which ensure good quality of life in our region.”
SCLN presents awards annually to individuals in the Southern California region who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in civic leadership, celebrating those whose vision has inspired action, collaboration and positive outcomes.
“This event allows us to recognize these leaders and gain insight into the strengths they display,” said SCLN Executive Director Kevin Cottrell. “Without a doubt, this year’s honorees have distinguished themselves as managing and leading positive change and transitions in their respective careers.”
During the Visionaries luncheon, SCLN announced that nearly 100 leaders from its California Connections, Leadership Southern California and Leadership L.A. 2010 programs graduated, adding to them to the exemplary network of 1,300+ diverse alumni from across all sectors in Southern California.
Past recipients of the Lifetime “Still Achieving” Award include James A. Thomas, Thomas Properties Group, Inc.; Harold M. Williams, J. Paul Getty Trust and former Chairman of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; and George Deukmejian, former California Governor and Attorney General.
