Final Days of the State Legislative Session
As we approach the end of the legislative session, the Chamber is tracking the following bills on the Assembly and Senate Floor.
SB 1383 (Jackson) Requires 12-weeks of leave for employers over five employees. Chamber staff testified our opposition at the Assembly Appropriations Committee. This item is #26 on the Assembly Floor.

SB 1159 ( Hill) Triggers rebuttable presumption based on number of employees and number of COVID-19 infections. The item is #29 on the Assembly Floor. The bill is projected to be amended with AB 664 (Cooper) and AB 196 (Gonzalez) which establishes conclusive presumption for first responders and essential workers. Read our letter here.
SB 1399 (Durazo) Eliminates piece-rate compensation in the garment industry. This item is #68 on the Assembly Floor. Read our letter here.
AB 3216 (Kalra) Imposes Right of Recall provisions on certain industries. The leave language has been amended out of the bill. This bill is currently item #66 on the Senate Floor. Read our letter here.

Business Coalition Advocacy
We are working closely with a couple of statewide coalitions including with the Cal Chamber to oppose several bills. We are also working closely with our local business coalition to coordinate our advocacy to represent the voice of business.
