Hello friend --
From the Westside to the Eastside, we roam the region in search of unique opportunities for you!
Being social is a Snap
Last Friday, we piloted a workshop where students from Granada Hills’ John F. Kennedy Jr. High School proved that they’re not just pros when it comes using social media, but that they’ve got the creative skills and aptitude to build it. Social media giant Snapchat generously hosted the event at their Venice headquarters as students worked closely with a team of Snapchat designers and marketers to use illustration and design software to create geofilters on the Snapchat platform. Our special thanks and appreciation goes out to the amazing Snapchat team that helped make this happen! See the students at work here.
Delivering solutions for startups
What's one of the best perks of being a Bixel Exchange startup client? In a word: access. On March 24, we invited 30 area e-commerce startups for a private, exclusive tour of UPS's major regional hub in Ontario. The group explored the state-of-the-art supply chain facility boasting more than 155 miles of conveyor belts, lasers, eyes and pucks, then heard from the head of UPS's Strategic Enterprise Fund -- a private equity strategic investment and corporate venture capital arm of the company -- on the fund's work in developing strong partnerships, and acquiring knowledge returns from investments in tech companies and emerging market spaces. Creative apps for a college campus
Congratulations to the winners of AppJam 2016 -- Cal State Northridge's annual mobile app competition for CSUN undergraduate and graduate students! This year's contest challenged Matadors to create apps that present a solution to a real-life problem for the campus or its community. Take a look at these winners, who battled it out against 30 other competitors, and won cash prizes, in addition to startup consulting services from yours truly to help take their apps to the next level.

Join L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti April 26-28 as he leads the Chamber's delegation of more than 150 business leaders to Washington, D.C., to advocate for Southern California. The trip includes large group briefings, events and small group meetings for tech innovators on Capitol Hill. Delegates will advocate for the L.A. region focusing on priorities that include Los Angeles’ 2024 Olympic bid, developing a 21st century workforce and immigration reform. RSVP here.
Be a Quickbooks Pro
Want to learn some Quicksbooks tips and tricks that’ll help maximize the software’s capabilities and help you stay efficient? Join us April 28 for the Chamber’s next Tech Thursday workshop. The event is open to Chamber members, but startup clients get free admission! RSVP to attend.
A congratulatory shout-out goes out to startup client Podshare, who’s opening up their third L.A. location this spring, in Los Feliz! Defined as a “co-living space,” Podshare caters to those who share an equal appetite for entrepreneurship, community and sleep, and enjoy the benefits of an "access not ownership" school of thought. Each Podshare location boasts sleep pods that conveniently convert into workspaces, and amenities like a shared kitchen, charging station, laundry facility and an Xbox 360 for those long nights. Check out some recent press they got.
