...happy 1st birthday to TechHire!
Today marks the first birthday of TechHire, President Obama’s bold multi-sector initiative to empower Americans with the skills needed to rapidly train workers for a well-paying job, often in just a few months. To celebrate the occasion, the President announced new steps to further fueling the next generation of innovators: 1. expansion of TechHire to 50 U.S. communities (including Riverside, California!), 2. strengthening and extending on-the-job training for international STEM graduates of U.S. universities, 3. launch of the Career Technical Education Makeover Challenge to encourage the creation of more makerspaces in high schools and 4. reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Career & Technical Education Act, emphasizing the Obama administration's ongoing commitment to ensure incentivizing high-quality programs and aligning CTE programs with postsecondary and career opportunities. How to make it in Hollywood
Anyone who’s ever tried to “make it” in Hollywood knows it’s an industry like no other. On Feb. 26, a classroom of 32 film production students at Chatsworth High School got a taste of just that when we hooked them up with guest speaker and TV/film director and producer Scott Brown, a director for Hulu talk show web series “Larry King Now”. Brown gave students an insider look at what it’s really like to work in film production, fielded questions about his personal journey to breaking into the industry and dished advice for aspiring movie makers.
