CSUN's Tseng College earns 2016 Export Achievement Award , 5.12.16

International Trade Education Programs honored at the 90th Annual World Trade Week,, 
In late February, the Chamber and the Los Angeles Regional Export Council (LARExC) participated in the U.S. International Pavilion at the Singapore Air Show 2016, Asia's largest and most significant aerospace and defense exhibition in the world. One of the participating companies -- a small- to medium-sized manufacturer of ground support equipment based in L.A. -- has reported approximately $8 million in sales that are confirmed or expected to occur in 2016 as a result of the show. The event was possible thanks to the U.S. Commercial Service and the Small Business Administration's State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) Grant through the California STEP Grant Initiative. Chamber initiative LARExC co-hosts Beyond the Numbers
The Chamber's L.A. Regional Export Council (LARExC) joined Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA) and the Port of Los Angeles in hosting the first "Beyond the Numbers" conference, which attracted over 150 regional executives interested in learning more about strategic trends in export and imports, air and sea cargo movement and emerging markets for products. Presentations were based on the 2016 Los Angeles Trade Numbers publication released at the May 3 World Trade Week Kickoff Breakfast and the LAWA Air Cargo Study. World City, Weber Air Cargo, Los Angeles Air Cargo Association (LAACA), Los Angeles Freight Forwarders Association and Trade Connect were supporting and cooperating organizations. The Chamber and LARExC strive to provide current data to enhance business strategies in global markets.
Chamber welcomes the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber welcomed board members of the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce of Turkey last month. Mr. Eyup Bartik, chairman of the board, led this trade delegation representing 15 industries from logistics to construction and textiles. These senior executives expressed great interest in forging commercial and industrial relations with L.A. based firms. Turkey is the L.A. region's No. 41 trading partner with almost $800 million in bilateral trade.
Chamber meets with Chinese Machinery & Electronics Chamber Delegation
The China Chamber of Commerce for Imports & Exports of Machinery & Electronic Products (CCCME) visited L.A. with a delegation of more than 120 Chinese executives representing various commercial and industrial sectors. The Los Angeles Regional Export Council (LARExC), a Chamber initiative, was responsible for connecting the CCCME delegation with the counties of L.A., San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and Ventura, which have been working with LARExC's regional strategy promoting global trade and foreign investment. The CCCME and LARExC are members of the working group under the MOU signed by Governor Brown in China in 2013. The Chamber's implementation of MOUs, and strategic alliances continues to be a top priority.

On Wednesday, June 15, join the Global Initiatives Council from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. as L.A. City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, chair of the Innovation, Grants, Technology and Trade Committee, provides an overview of how the committee is interacting and working with the international business community and how the Port of Angeles and the Los Angeles World Airports are contributing to expanding the presence of local companies in global markets.
