THIRD ANNUAL THE AMERICAS BUSINESS FORUM
U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco J. Sánchez, above, told business leaders on Wednesday that emerging markets in Canada, Mexico and Latin America present significant opportunities for economic growth in California.
Sánchez spoke to entrepreneurs during the third annual The Americas Business Forum – Creating Jobs Through Exports event hosted by the Chamber, UCLA Anderson School of Management and the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service.
The two-day event brings senior commercial officers stationed at 14 U.S. Embassies in the Western Hemisphere to meet with local businesses and discuss export opportunities that help create jobs and grow the economy. (Photo by Erin Orias) Read more.

Chamber members become Principals for a Day
Nearly 140 business and community leaders headed back to school on Friday to learn more about public education in Los Angeles and to begin a conversation on how the business community can support public schools. The event was presented by Pillar, a partnership between the Chamber and the Los Angeles Unified School District and sponsored by Bank of America.
As an extension of the Principal for a Day program, many participating business leaders will welcome educators into their offices for an Executive for a Day exchange this Spring. View photo gallery. If you're interested in hosting an educator at your workplace, contact Paola Santana, 213.580.7553.

The group also focused on issues shaping Orange County including high-tech and green jobs growth; community cooperation and public works; and regional politics and transportation revitalization.
