CHAMBER-SUPPORTED PROJECT APPROVED BY L.A. CITY COUNCIL

Yesterday, the L.A. City Council overwhelmingly approved the Final EIR for BNSF Railway Company's Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) project. The Chamber testified in support of the $500 million, privately-funded SCIG, which will remove millions of truck trips from the 710 Freeway, improve air quality and create thousands of jobs, all while helping the region maintain our economic competitiveness in global trade. The Chamber thanks BNSF for its commitment to investing in Los Angeles and Councilmember Joe Buscaino for his leadership. Contact Jessica Duboff, 213.580.7558.

Homes and Jobs Act
On Tuesday, the L.A. City Council unanimously voted to support a resolution in favor of SB 391, the Homes and Jobs Act. This bill will ensure that every chronically homeless and homeless veteran in L.A. is afforded the opportunity for housing off the street, while creating 29,000 construction jobs statewide. The Chamber was a key proponent in the City's support for this bill. Contact Tina Hossain, 213.580.7531.

Chamber members headed for Sacramento next week
One hundred Chamber members will be in Sacramento for the Chamber's annual ACCESS Sacramento trip, May 13-14. View our advocacy agenda. The delegation will meet with dozens of legislators, agency heads and statewide elected officials to advocate for a stronger, more prosperous California. Featured speakers include Senate pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, State Controller John Chiang, Senate Budget Chair Mark Leno and Sacramento Bee Columnist Dan Walters. Contact Tina Hossain, 213.580.7531.
