 CHAMBER-SUPPORTED PROJECT APPROVED BY L.A. CITY COUNCIL Yesterday, the L.A. City Council overwhelmingly approved the Final EIR for BNSF Railway Company's Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) project. The Chamber testified in support of the $500 million, privately-funded SCIG, which will remove millions of truck trips from the 710 Freeway, improve air quality and create thousands of jobs, all while helping the region maintain our economic competitiveness in global trade. Contact Jessica Duboff, 213.580.7558.  • Homes and Jobs Act On Tuesday, the L.A. City Council unanimously voted to support a resolution in favor of SB 391, the Homes and Jobs Act. This bill will ensure that every chronically homeless and homeless veteran in L.A. is afforded the opportunity for housing off the street, while creating 29,000 construction jobs statewide.
