On Tuesday, voters in Los Angeles will head to the polls to vote in a special election. Measure EE – a $500 million dollar per year parcel tax for Los Angeles Unified School District – will be the only item on the ballot (unless you're in CD12).

Medicare for All is trending in today’s American political discourse. But, while talk is cheap, actually getting to a single-payer system, like Medicare for all, is not. Taxes would have to rise to intolerable levels to cover the projected cost of more than $32 trillion in the first 10 years. Even doubling individual and corporate income tax collections would not pay for it.

Last week, as we traveled with more than 80 Chamber members to Sacramento for our annual ACCESS Sacramento advocacy trip, building relationships with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s new administration was our top priority.
