Mobility 21 Summit Stands in Support of Measure M

Last Friday, 1,200 transportation experts at the annual Mobility 21 Summit in Anaheim voiced their support for Measure M, the Los Angeles County transportation measure on the Nov. 8 ballot. Metro Chairman John Fasano and City of L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti were articulate spokespersons for the dramatic improvements that Measure M will provide to mobility and quality of life in L.A. County.
The Chamber birthed Mobility 21 in 2002 when 500 transportation advocates gathered for the first Mobility 21 transportation summit on land use, public transit, streets and highways, goods movement, aviation, transportation financing and coalition building. Co-founders with the Chamber were the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Agency and the Automobile Club of Southern California.
Fifteen years later, Mobility 21 has expanded to include representation from the transit agencies and businesses in Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties. All of the counties represented at this annual conference voiced their support for Measure M because mobility in Southern California for its 17 million residents is dependent on the transportation infrastructure of every county in the region. Attendees at this transportation summit on best practices and innovations also voiced their support for Measure AA in Ventura County and Measure A in San Diego County.
The conference concluded with a panel that emphasized the importance of modern transportation to winning the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic bid for L.A. and Southern California. For the same reasons that the Chamber partnered with Metro and the Auto Club to create Mobility 21, the Chamber stands side by side with Metro in support of Measure M and with the LA2024 Committee in its bid to bring the Olympics back to L.A.
The Chamber encourages its members and L.A. County voters to say YES to Measure M on the Nov. 8 ballot. It is an investment that will benefit our county and our region for generations.
And that's The Business Perspective.
