This week, the Chamber's Government & Fiscal Affairs Council welcomed L.A. City Councilmember Rodriguez, chair of the City’s Public Safety Committee, to speak on enforcement policies against illegal cannabis businesses. The City of Los Angeles recently adopted an ordinance to help the LADWP turn off utilities at properties with illegal cannabis businesses, and allocated an additional $10 million in the budget to help fund enforcement efforts. The council also heard from Ruben Flores from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration on different tax policies being implemented at the state level, as well as challenges facing the cannabis industry with tax collection and payment. Finally, the council summarized the 2019 ACCESS Sacramento trip and reported on a recent roundtable on paid family leave. SEE THE PHOTOS.
