On June 14, 14 interns graduated from the eight-week Creating Opportunities and Real Experiences (C.O.R.E.) internship program, in which the Chamber placed justice-involved young adults, ages 18 to 25, in job opportunities with employer partners. PBS KLCS TV General Manager Jaime Jiménez gave the closing speech to intern graduates, their families, C.O.R.E. employers and AYE, County and Chamber staff. Jiménez offered Albert, a C.O.R.E. intern placed at PBS, a position during his speech. Two C.O.R.E. graduates also spoke to the group to inspire the young adults in their ongoing career paths, including Chamber Smart Justice Assistant Krisia Barrera. Thank you to sponsor The Coca-Cola Company and the 60 employer partners who have committed to engaging in open and fair hiring best practices as part of the initiative. Across two cohorts, 45 employers have been matched with interns and 26 interns have graduated from the program, successfully completing all 320 hours of their internships.
