Chamber launches new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion/Human Resources Council

The new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion/Human Resources Council held a successful first meeting on Wednesday with more than 80 attendees. Monica Bouldin, vice president of Ruiz Strategies and first co-chair of the Council, kicked off the meeting, and Dr. Manuel Pastor, director of the USC Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE), provided an overview of local economic context and highlighted new economic research and thinking that supports inclusion as the optimal path for sustained growth. Pastor also moderated a panel discussion with Garland Fuller, senior diversity recruiting business partner at CBRE, and Bonnie Franco and Thomas Yeomans, both in talent development at Ralphs Grocery Company, who shared existing efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion, best practices and challenges. The panelist remarks focused around talent recruitment, retention and upskilling and reaffirmed that "diverse teams create better solutions." SEE THE PHOTOS.
