Global Initiatives Council Briefed by Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development
Center for Global Trade & Foreign Investment
|November 20, 2019|
Bud Colligan, Senior Adviser for International Affairs and Trade at the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, addressed members of the Chamber's Global Initiatives Council this week to provide an update on California's strategy to expand international trade and investment opportunities. In particular, the state will focus heavily on export growth by supporting SMEs through export training programs launching next year. As the fifth largest economy in the world, California ranks first in the United States in two-way trade, agriculture exports, technology exports and foreign direct investment. These numbers translate to millions of jobs across the state. International trade supports 4.7 million California jobs and foreign direct investment is responsible for more than 750,000 jobs. The session also included a special introduction of Patrick Schaefer, incoming Senior Vice President for the Chamber’s Center for Global Trade & Foreign Investment. VIEW THE PRESENTATION.
