Center for Business Advocacy

February 7, 2020

The health care sector is ever changing and representative of a wide range of industries. The Health Care Council, last week, heard from Dr. Christina Ghaly who is the Health Services Director for the Department of Health Services for Los Angeles County. She serves as the head administrator and oversees the operations of the County’s four public hospitals and 23 outpatient clinics. Her position requires an incredible amount of coordination among the different County departments and other levels of government. The Chamber will continue to be a partner and work with her office to ensure the highest level of coverage and care for patients in L.A. County and the region.

The council also heard from Dr. Jonathan Thomas from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), California’s Stem Cell Agency. The world of stem cell research and biological sciences is at a critical crossroads with incredible advances in medicine and science stemming from research directly funded by CIRM. Dr. Thomas highlighted the incredible work done through more than $2.6 billion in grants. SEE THE PHOTOS.
