The inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris marks a new chapter in our country's history. While there were not the traditional crowds, parades or celebratory events, we witnessed peaceful transfer of power. President Biden called for unity and spoke about the importance of our country's leadership as well as acknowledging the work ahead. With the swearing-in of Vice President Harris, she makes history as the first woman elected as Vice President, achieving a great step forward for women.
We know that it will take a special kind of leadership to address the health, economic, and racial equity challenges our country faces. We are hopeful that a vision can be defined through resiliency, equity, and centered on the principles of democracy which country was founded.

There is no doubt the new administration has plenty of work ahead. The loss of life due to the pandemic has reached just over 400,000, an incomprehensible number. Our hospitals are overwhelmed, businesses have closed, and jobs have been lost. There is an incredible amount of work to do to address these crises and restart our economy.
In his first day in office, President Biden acted with a series of executive orders and directives, including ones to address the health crisis. He called for 100 days of mask wearing and a commitment to defeat the virus. Also, the U.S. will rejoin the World Health Organization. These first steps are essential to tackle the virus. We know that to return our economy, we must first ensure we have healthy communities.

We congratulate President Biden and Vice President Harris and stand ready to support an agenda that will defeat the virus, so we can restore our economy, to emerge stronger. Sign up for our newsletter for regular updates.
