New Leadership & Our Inaugural Awards
January marks the new year and a time for the Chamber to celebrate its time-honored tradition of “passing the gavel”, meaning the annual transition from one Board Chair to the next. For 133 years, the Chamber has fostered civic leadership through this transition. The Chamber will conduct our tradition of the “passing of the gavel” at our virtual celebration open to all on January 28th.

Grateful to our Outgoing Chair
We say farewell to our 2020 Board Chair Denita Willoughby, Vice President of SoCalGas, the first African-American woman to lead the L.A. Area Chamber. In a year marked by the pandemic and the killing of George Floyd, Denita’s leadership was critical as the Chamber responded to the needs of business and our community. Denita led us through the challenges of the year and led courageous conversations about key public policy and racial inequities. Her leadership was inspiring!
Welcome to our 2021 Board Chair
Raul A. Anaya, Market President of Bank of America Greater Los Angeles and Head of Business Banking, will take the helm of the Chamber. Raul was born and raised in Texas and has a distinguished career with Bank of America. A respected executive, he is a member of the Bank’s leadership team nationally. 2021 will be about economic recovery. Raul has outlined three priorities: deepening of our advocacy work, supporting small businesses, and engaging with industry thought leaders.
