Preparedness Drives a Resilient Economy

Among the lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, one which remains abundantly clear is that we must be better prepared for natural disasters in all their forms. Whether it be disease or earthquakes, the Los Angeles region, as resilient as it’s shown itself to be, must not ease up in the fight to ensure our safeguards and safety nets keep our communities and livelihoods healthy, secure, and thriving.
Los Angeles and the entire Southern California area is prone to a unique concoction of natural disasters like fires, rock/mud slides, floods, and of course, earthquakes in addition to health crises. We know that if we are to thrive, we must prepare for the next natural disaster, whatever it may be. Natural disaster preparedness is not just the key to safety in our region, it’s the key to a resilient economy.
Over the past year and into the future, the Chamber is focused on helping businesses and our communities to be adaptable while reflecting on how we can be ready for the next inevitable emergency. At the Chamber, we know preparedness is essential, which is why we host policy makers in a variety of forums to discuss preparedness and all the systems which need to be in place for a resilient Los Angeles. We are proud of our partnership with organizations like Optimum Seismic to present informational webinars like “The Resilience Advantage,” focused on earthquake preparedness. Particularly in L.A., we must be committed to ensuring our region has the relevant information from experts and resources businesses can use to navigate the next natural disaster.
Learn more about Optimum Seismic and sign up for the next session, “Policy Options Before Disaster Strikes.” Let’s all do our part for a resilient economy as we emerge from the pandemic.
