Reflecting on Hispanic Heritage Month

As we bring Hispanic Heritage Month to a close, it’s great to highlight members of our Board and community and their accomplishments. Earlier this week, I shared a few reflections of my own with EY when I was asked what does “esperanza” (hope) mean to me.

Like I said to EY, “As a first generation college student myself, I’m inspired every day by our Latino youth who are making great strides in achieving their college dreams. I believe that a degree is the path to economic mobility and a gamechanger for first generation college grads."

“Both my parents had limited education, their hard work inspires me every day to be better, to not fear the unknown, to get comfortable with the uncomfortable, and to pay it forward by helping others be their best self.

“’Esperanza’ is a guiding light for me as a Latina. It’s “hope” which has given me the courage to walk through doors and chart a path forward, shining light on the road less traveled so that others may be inspired.”

Join me as we continue to build our journey for the businesses and communities of our vibrant L.A. region at the L.A. Area Chamber.
