Shop Small With Intent & Purpose

To build a more equitable economy, we must work from the ground up. That's why we embrace the small businesses in our communities. They are the heart and soul of neighborhoods, and with economic uncertainties, they need our support now more than ever. This year, while small businesses continue to retool and pivot from the effects of the pandemic, they must now face inflation, labor shortages, and supply chain challenges. We can make a difference by discovering and supporting our local small businesses this holiday season and shopping with intent and purpose.
Los Angeles is an economy of small and mid-size business with the highest concentration of small businesses owned by persons of color. In Los Angeles County, 43% of the local workforce is employed by small business, according to Cal Matters. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants in 2021 spent an estimated $23.3 billion on Small Business Saturday
It’s no surprise that a recent Union Bank Holiday Spending Survey found that consumers plan to be more intentional about their purchases as they feel a greater sense of responsibility to support small businesses.
