A Paradigm Shift
November 2, 2023

The Chamber has been a staunch advocate for a robust and accessible educational system. In today’s business environment, when competition, automation, and economic highs and lows impact labor markets, business must deepen its engagement in the education pipeline. It’s not just a nice thing to do – it’s an imperative.
The involvement of businesses in education is not just about financial support; more importantly, it's about forging partnerships. Partnerships where businesses offer pathways to high growth careers, internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing and work-based learning opportunities. These real-world experiences not only offer students a glimpse into the future but give them a competitive edge in the workforce.
Innovative partnerships exist in many forms. Earlier this year the Los Angeles Rams (Rams) and Loyola Marymount University (LMU) announced a partnership to benefit both LMU students and the Rams in a joint press release.

LMU will have access to dedicated internships within the Rams organization, access to case studies, mentorship and networking opportunities, and in-class appearances by members of the Rams organization. In turn, the Rams players, coaches, and staff will have the opportunity to further their education through dedicated scholarships for graduate and undergraduate education, certificate, and credential programs.
These partnerships are essential to train the future workforce of our region and to provide lifelong learning opportunities to those in the workforce today.
We are at the crossroads of significant transformation in every business sector, and businesses have the ability to shape the workforce of the future. We need to deepen collaboration with academia, utilizing a new approach — a paradigm shift. The Chamber will convene business and education executives, experts and thought leaders, to dive into this important conversation. Join the Chamber’s Education Summit on November 8th.
