Reflecting on a Remarkable First Half of 2024: An Impactful Journey

It's incredible how quickly we've arrived to the month of July! It is a perfect time to reflect on the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s impactful work during the first half of 2024. We've had a busy and productive agenda, with milestones which reinforce our commitment to the business community and the Los Angeles region. Looking back over the year, we have accomplished so much together.

Engaging with Civic Leadership
The year began with notable visits from Mayor Karen Bass, City of Los Angeles Council President Paul Krekorian, and City Council President-elect Marqueece Harris-Dawson, each sharing insights on their priorities. Our annual delegation visits to Washington D.C. and Sacramento emphasized our commitment to representing the region and advocating for policies crucial to strengthening our regional economy. At the state level, we’ve closely monitored numerous bills and provided testimony on several others to ensure the business community’s voice is heard and sensible legislation is enacted.

Celebrating New Leadership in Los Angeles
In the first half of the year, the Chamber welcomed distinguished civic leaders, including John Ackerman, the new CEO of Los Angeles World Airports; Janisse Quiñones, the new CEO and Chief Engineer of Los Angeles Water & Power; and Ambassador Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez, the new Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles. These events created valuable opportunities to strengthen our community ties, allowing our members to engage in meaningful dialogue with influential leaders who shape our region's infrastructure and economy.

As we look forward to the rest of the year, we are filled with optimism and determination to lead and engage. Our collective efforts have built a strong foundation, and we are eager to build on this momentum. Together, we will continue to drive positive change and work towards creating A Thriving Region For All.
