LOS ANGELES REGIONAL EXPORT COUNCIL (LARExC)
To facilitate collaboration and coordination among the greater Los Angeles and five-county region’s international trade institutions, government agencies, economic development offices, and service providers; to sustain broad-based and inclusive economic growth and job creation in the region by promoting the growth of exports by local firms, particularly small and medium-sized firms; and to strengthen, support and expand existing services and programs that are responsive to regional exporter needs.
Objective
- Coordinate assistance and streamlining export support services by establishing a clear policy agenda, targeting growth industries, and establishing specific metrics for successful export growth.
- Remove barriers to growth for new-to-export firms, such as limited awareness of export opportunities and a lack of access to working capital and trade finance, by expanding local firms’ engagement with existing export support services.
- Create a unique entry point for firms to connect with export support service resources by building and maintaining an information database and communicating private sector perspectives on the need for additional resources to public officials.
- Promote inclusive economic growth and wealth creation through export growth by supporting outreach, programming, resources and tools for women-owned and statistically diverse regional businesses.
- Provide thought leadership in trade policy discussions with regional and national stakeholders.
