Legal Cannabis in Los Angeles: What Does the Business Community Need to Know?

Friday, June 29
10 - 11:30 a.m.
L.A. Area Chamber
350 S. Bixel St.
Los Angeles, CA 90017

In 2016, California voters passed Proposition 64, legalizing recreational cannabis. The proposition, however, left a number of decisions to be made by individual cities to implement programs most appropriate for their communities. Thus, the City of Los Angeles has spent the last year developing a set of regulatory policies applicable to the newly legalized industry. Join the first meeting of the newly re-established Government & Fiscal Affairs Council to learn about these rules and what they means for business and communities.

Cat Packer, the newly appointed director of the City's Department of Cannabis Regulation, will break down the final regulatory framework passed by L.A. City Council and what was included to address safety concerns, land use challenges, social equity programs and a host of other policy implications. She'll share her goals for the department and next steps.
The Government & Fiscal Affairs Council serves as the Chamber's primary committee to evaluate legislation and policies that affect the broad business community and civic life including taxes, regulations and government reforms. They meet monthly to monitor and act on general business regulatory issues and focus on L.A. City public policy issues.
All Council meetings are open to Chamber members only. Media and guests are only allowed with prior approval.
