Innovation In Tech, Access To Education & Advocating For a More Family-Friendly California, With Assemblyman Ian Calderon
California Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon was first elected in November 2012 to represent the state's 57th Assembly District, becoming the first millennial elected to the state legislature. Since then, Assemblyman Calderon has championed technological innovation in California, equal education access and experimental treatments in health care. In 2016, he was elected by his peers as majority leader -- the youngest person to serve in this leadership position. In this role, he represents the Assembly Speaker on the floor, expedites Assembly floor proceedings through parliamentary procedures, such as motions and points of order, and promotes harmony amongst the membership.
