(LOS ANGELES, CA) − Each year during National Small Business Week, the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recognizes outstanding small business owners and advocates for their contribution to the American economy and society.  The President has declared May 20-25, 2012, as National Small Business Week.

SBA is currently accepting nominations for several SBA award categories including the 2012 Small Business Person of the Year Award.  The Los Angeles SBA Office serves Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.  Trade associations, chambers of commerce and business organizations frequently sponsor candidates.  A business owner may also nominate themselves or other candidates.

"The SBA looks forward to honoring these entrepreneurs who are contributing to our community and economy in their respective industries,” said Mark Quinn, Acting District Director.  “Every year, I’m inspired by the dozen or so individual stories that lead to their business achievements – that’s what makes these individuals and awards so meaningful to the small business community."

In 2012, National Small Business Week will honor the estimated 27.5 million small businesses in America.  Business entrepreneurs throughout the Southern California area will be honored during Small Business Week with many local events.  Through the work of entrepreneurs, jobs are created, families are given a better life and whole communities are transformed.  Please join us in the National Small Business Week celebration.

Nomination criteria, forms and deadline dates for all award categories can be found by visiting the SBA website and downloading the PDF at:  http://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/SBW%202012%20Nominations%20Guidelines-LADO.pdf or by contacting Patrick Rodriguez, Public Information Officer, in the Los Angeles SBA District Office at (818) 552-3222 or at Patrick.Rodriguez@sba.gov.

This is an opportunity to recognize an individual or an organization dedicated to the support of the small business community. Please send all nominations to the U. S. Small Business Administration, 330 N. Brand Blvd., Suite 1200, Glendale, California, 91203, Attn:  Patrick Rodriguez.
