Los Angeles – In response to the launch of California’s health insurance exchange, Covered California, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce would like to encourage all businesses in Los Angeles to explore this new opportunity associated with the Affordable Care Act.
“Today is a historic day where 5.3 million eligible Californians will be empowered to make choices about the type of health care coverage they need and want,” said Gary Toebben, President and CEO of the L.A. Area Chamber. “In November, small business owners will also be given resources to purchase coverage through the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) which will help them determine what is best for their business and workforce.”
Toebben continued, “The goal of the Affordable Care Act is to save money and control premium increases for businesses and individuals. Prevention saves money. Controlling costs saves money. Not depending on emergency rooms as the sole place to get health care saves money. The Chamber is committed to helping the small business community and their employees take advantage of this new opportunity.”
