LOS ANGELES, CA — Following today’s announcement that the California Legislature approved the revised budget, the L.A. Area Chamber releases the following statement:
“We applaud Governor Brown and the legislature on the fiscal restraint reflected in this budget. We supported deposits into the rainy day fund and additional appropriations for education,” stated Gary Toebben, President & CEO.
“The L.A. Area Chamber has long been proponent of a cradle-to-career approach to education as a key ingredient for workforce development and economic prosperity. We appreciate this budget’s wise investments in education, which include an additional $6 billion in investments in K-12 for 2015-16, as well as a three-year, $1 billion investment in career and technical education,” Toebben continued.
“Additionally, we commend the Governor on the inclusion nearly $100 million more for California State University to expand enrollment and focus on increased success; as well as the tuition stability provided by the deal for the University of California and its students in exchange for commitments that ensure improved system efficiencies.”
