LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce applauded today the strong bi-partisan support in Congress for the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Obama this week.
“This five-year highway plan will allow states, counties and cities to move forward on badly needed transportation improvements for their residents and businesses,” stated Gary Toebben, the Chamber’s president and CEO. The Chamber initiated a coalition of more than 200 chambers of commerce across the United States in support of a long-term surface transportation bill. This legislation has been a priority for the past five years for the Chamber and its partner the L.A. County Metro. California Senator Barbara Boxer played a key leadership role in the U.S. Senate.
