LOS ANGELES — Today, the Los Angeles Regional Export Council (LARExC) announced that it will be a partner in the China International Import Expo (CIIE), to be held in Shanghai Nov. 5 -10, 2018. The only California partner in the event, LARExC will lead the efforts to showcase California, with a focus on high-end intelligent equipment, food and agricultural products.

With the world’s largest population, China is the second largest economy, as well as the second largest importer and consumer in the world. China has entered a new development stage on which consumption keeps increasing, indicating enormous potential for the growth of consumption and import. In the next five years, China is expecting to import products and services valuing more than 10 trillion U.S. dollars, which provides a historic opportunity for enterprises across the world to enter the huge Chinese market.

“The CIIE Import event will draw lots of attention and attract Chinese importers and buyers as this is the first ever show completely organized by the Chinese government,” said Carlos Valderrama, President of the L.A. Area Chamber’s Center for Global Trade & Foreign Investment.

The CIIE will feature more than 240,000 square meters of exhibition space and will feature enterprises from more than 100 countries and regions. The event will also include supporting activities, such as supply-demand matchmaking meetings, seminars and product releases. CIIE estimates that 150,000 domestic and foreign professionals will participate in the six-day expo.

California businesses are invited to participate in the California Pavilion at CIIE. Space is limited and the booking deadline is June 30, 2018. Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging and shipping of equipment/ brochures/booth-displays.
