L.A. Area Chamber Looks Forward to Working with New LAUSD Superintendent on Classroom Education and Financial Stability



LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, the Los Angeles Unified School District’s (LAUSD) board of education announced the appointment of business and civic leader Austin Beutner as the new superintendent. The following is a statement from Gary Toebben, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, on that appointment.

“Austin Beutner brings a unique combination of private and public-sector experience that will be an asset to LAUSD. The Chamber looks forward to working with him to improve early childhood education, classroom learning, high school graduation rates, career readiness and college access,” Toebben noted. “We also pledge our support for providing long-term financial stability for LAUSD, its students and the community,” Toebben continued.  As the voice of the region’s business community, we want to ensure the next generation thrives in our global economy, and we know Beutner understands the importance of this vision.
