LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that its Center for Global Trade & Foreign Investment has been selected to participate in the Partners Program of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
Through its Partners Program, OPIC aims to enhance the dissemination of information about their efforts to help U.S. businesses compete in the global marketplace through private sector investment in emerging market countries.
With this, the L.A. Area Chamber joins an elite group of strategic organizations and economic development agencies throughout the U.S. As a partner, the L.A. Area Chamber will work closely with OPIC to educate the business community in the Los Angeles Region about OPIC products and services available to help U.S. companies access international business opportunities.
OPIC is the primary U.S. government agency focused on supporting private sector investment in the developing world. OPIC helps U.S. businesses meet the challenges of investing overseas, fosters economic development in new and emerging markets, complements the private sector in managing risks associated with foreign direct investment, and supports U.S. foreign policy. Because OPIC charges market-based fees for its products, it operates on a self-sustaining basis at no net cost to taxpayers.
The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce represents the interests of business in L.A. County. Founded in 1888, the Chamber promotes a prosperous economy and quality of life in the Los Angeles region. For more information, visit www.lachamber.com.
