The L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce presents Citi with the Corporate Leadership Award during the Jan. 30 Inaugural Dinner

LOS ANGELES (January 29, 2020) — The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce will present its 2020 Corporate Leadership Award to Citi.  The award, given annually to a company or organization that has demonstrated superior leadership in the long-term economic growth and prosperity of the Los Angeles region, was announced today by Chamber President & CEO Maria S. Salinas.

“Citi has a long history of providing leadership as a premier corporate citizen, and that, combined with the company’s commitment to small businesses by providing access to capital and financial empowerment as well as their passion for being involved and enriching the lives of disadvantaged communities make it the ideal recipient of this award,” said Salinas.

Citi's mission is to serve as a trusted partner to its clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress. It has proudly served the people of Los Angeles for more than 100 years. The company, let by its Community Development team, invests in scalable public-private partnerships that continue to strengthen businesses, individuals and the economy in the region. Additionally, through initiatives like the OneLA Regional Procurement Collaborative, Citi supports strategies to scale and accelerate minority-owned business growth locally.

“Los Angeles is the 18th largest economy in the world. It is and will continue to be an economic and cultural powerhouse,” says Raymond McGuire, Vice Chairman of Citigroup and Chairman of Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory. “Citi’s commitment to the growth, progress and prosperity of this region is real. We believe that expanding access to affordable housing, commercial opportunity and financial security for all Angelenos is good for Los Angeles and good for the economy.”

The Corporate Leadership Award will be presented to Citi at the Chamber’s 132nd Annual Inaugural Dinner on Jan. 30, 2019, at the JW Marriott at LA LIVE. Recognized as the premier business and civic leadership event in Los Angeles, the Inaugural Dinner will also feature the installation of 2020 Chair of the Board, Denita Willoughby, Vice President of Supply Management & Support Services for Southern California Gas Company, as well as the presentation of the Civic Medal of Honor to Frank E.
