STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 1, 2020
LOS ANGELES AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RESPONDS.
We at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce are shocked by the tragic death of Mr. George Floyd in Minneapolis and extend our most sincere condolences to his family.
Many of our members and friends, near and far, are hurting by the pain of injustice and racism that has exposed itself once again. Injustice rendered to one is an injustice to all.
As a business organization, we stand with Angelenos who exercise their right to speak out against injustice and intolerance in a peaceful manner.
However, those who are using public discord to exercise violence and to vandalize businesses are violating the rights of other hard-working Angelenos, and small business owners, that due to the coronavirus pandemic are already struggling to stay afloat. These businesses fuel our economy and provide much needed jobs that support countless families throughout our community.
We believe violence in any form cannot be tolerated.
The strength of our region is our diversity and courage through adversity. Together, we can create a more just and equitable thriving region for all.
