LOS ANGELES AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RESPONDS TO L.A. COUNTY’S RESTRICTIVE STAY AT HOME ORDERS AND FURTHER RESTRICTING OF RESTAURANTS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES_copy
November 23, 2020
Due to the alarming rates of COVID-19 infections in the state California, as of November 21, 2020, it is required that all non-essential work and activities stop between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. in counties in the widespread (purple) tier, which includes LA County. Also, dining at restaurants, breweries, wineries and bars is restricted to take-out, drive thru and delivery services only, this ordinance will take effect Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 10:00 p.m.
“The L.A. Area Chamber understands the need for new health and safety restrictions in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. We implore the residents of L.A. County to follow the guidelines to slow the spread. We recognize, these restrictions will have a devastating affect on working families and small businesses, especially during this holiday season. Businesses were just beginning to successfully pivot their business models to adjust to the previous set of restrictions. Unfortunately, the limited stay at home orders, curfew and dining restrictions may forever close small businesses who are vital to our communities but also necessary for our region to recover. The Governor has issued restrictive guidelines to businesses on how to operate safely, however the County is adding layers of unnecessary restrictions on struggling businesses. The County’s order should be consistent with State orders. We urge policy makers to work with businesses to develop safe and effective alternatives to allow our small businesses to operate safely during the pandemic and withstand this storm,” stated Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Maria S. Salinas
