L.A. AREA CHAMBER RESPONDS TO NEWLY RELEASED STATE BUDGET
January 8, 2021
Today, Governor Newsom announced a $227 billion fiscal budget. “We applaud Governor Newson for making historic investments in education, vaccine distribution, small business and infrastructure in his 2021-2022 California state budget” stated Maria S. Salinas, President & CEO of the Los Area Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
We are encouraged by the Governor’s investments that will fuel our economic recovery, including $4.5 billion for small business of which $1.1 billion is for immediate relief, $1.5 billion for infrastructure and incentives to meet our climate goals, $775 million for California Jobs, and $353 million for workforce development.
The Governor’s investments are critical for the business community and entrepreneurship; the budget recognized that small businesses are vital economic engines in our cities. The combination of these investments will provide the resources needed for small businesses to emerge from the pandemic as innovative job creators. The business community looks forward to partnering with Governor Newson and our state leaders to maximize and amplify these investments to restore our local jobs and global economy.
